I added this external hard drive to my system sometime ago and used
the Retrospect backup program that came with the drive. After a lot of
trouble, I eventually gave up using Retrospect and uninstalled the
program. I am now using another backup program to backup to the Maxtor
drive with no problems.
But I now have a problem tho as something seems to have been left
behind during the uninstall. When I right click on any file in windows
explorer and select "Send to" from the dropdown list, I get a window
up from Maxtor One Touch which says Windows is trying to configure
Maxtor One Touch. After a while this fails with Internal error 2718
and I don't get an option to "send to" anywhere else.
I have run Regseeker looking for Maxtor in the registry and come up
with about 100 assorted entries.
Can anyone tell me if I can safely delete these - or are some
necessary for Windows to recognise the external hard drive? Otherwise,
how can I solve my "Send to" problem?
I am running XP SP2.
Thanks
Chris
