Hi All

I have the following :
1st PC with ASUS PCIe EN6600 128MB VGA - S-Video - DVI Ports,
2nd PC with Gigabyte GV-R7064T 64MB with VGA - TV-Out Ports,
3rd IBM Thinkpad 1997 Model 770 with VGA Port,
One 15" Philips Monitor.
I would like to use all three computers, but definitely the 2 Desktops,

Is it possible too put a VGA Monitor Cable male to male,
From 2nd desktop ( with no monitor, PC just standing in cupboard )
too the Thinkpads VGA port, in order too use the 2nd desktop,
in other words, use the Thinkpads Display,
or am I wrong that this won't work ?

Money is a problem, another monitor would be nice,
or ( Video Splitter, but is more than a 15" Philips Monitor anyway ),
but don't have the cash, vga cable very cheap.

Any suggestions, will be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you can directly use the laptop's LCD display as a monitor.

An alternative is the MaxiVista software from:
http://www.maxivista.com/

It creates a network link between two PC's and then you can use the monitor
of any network connected PC/laptop as a secondary display.
Works best on 100Mb LAN network but can also work over slower networks.

You might also consider remote desktop software - such as XP's built in
Remote Desktop Connection if you run XP on the second PC.
Both these solutions require your PCs to be networked of course.

Few notebook computers would be able to use a video signal from another
computer except as a source for recording a DVD or video stream. The
VGA or DVI port is normally limited to output. Most can't use any sort
of video input at all. VGA is an analog signal, and most notebooks
probably don't use it between the video card and the display panel. The
VGA generating circuits probably only feed the external monitor port.

The least expensive solution for simultanious use of both desktops would
probably be a CRT from a second hand shop.

You need a KVM switch for the VGA, you might be able to find
a switch for the S-Video and DVI, but your 15 inch VGA
monitor doesn't support those anyway.

I think that the VGA port on the thinkpad is just an Out not an In.
