Could be your video card is on the verge of failing. It may have
overheated. Make sure the fan on it is running. Just take the side panel
of your case off so you can see inside and turn the system on. You should
see the fan on the video card running. Consult your documentation or check
the website of your system's manufacturer for information on where the video
card is located. Or just look at where the cable for your monitor is
plugged in. That's the video card.
Your monitor could be at fault. Keep an eye on it and if this happens
again, switch the monitor out with a friends to check to see if it is the
monitor.
