- My screen display has turned on its side
- Posted by Whitey on May 4th, 2006
Help ... something I have done has suddenly tipped my screen display 90
degrees to the right ... I need to be laying down to read it ... not really a
practical solution though.
How can I reset it to normal display? I tried turning everything off and
rebooting, but no luck from that approach. It's an old but reliable Compaq

It will be a setting in your video software.
Some monitors do work in portrait setting, instead of the usual
landcsape, that is what you have now, XP has nothing to do with it.
Just as a matter of interest, let us know what you did!
It really amazes me how many different ways people manage to get into
trouble.
I mean absolutely no disrespect just curious.
Cheers

Thanks for that ... you're right ... it was working in portrait mode, albeit
sideways. I reloaded the video controller and the graphics software and it
seems to have resolved. I'm still none the wiser about what I did to change
the orientation in the first place, but at least it's now back to a usable
state ... and I can start working on easing the crick in my neck ... LOL
Your suggestion was appreciated ... getting into difficulty like this IS a
skill, you know ... not a valuable one, but a skill nonetheless. Thanks again.
