Ram Drive
Posted by EmGee on March 10th, 2008

Hi folks,
I just reinstalled a system for a friend with XP. I also installed a second
hard drive and a second cd rom.
All work fine but I'm curious as to why the second cd rom shows up as
CD Ram drive (F
instead of CD Drive (F
Might it have anything to do with "Express Recovery" which can be installed
from the chipset disk? (It's a gigabyte mobo)

ALL rewriter drives show as DVD Ram drive IF they are able to burn/read DVD
RAM disks.
Only CD ROM drives show as CD ROM .
Every single writer/rewriter that I have ever installed were/are able to
burn/read DVD RAM disks and have always shown as DVD RAM

That's right! Microsoft XP is supposed that be able to write directly
to DVD-RAM media.
