Hi,
I don't know if you still have this problem, but this is what I did:
I ran setupapi to see if I could find where Logical Disk Manager ran
into the class
error. For me it looked like the problem started when the computer was
looking for
information from c:\windows\inf\machine.inf. I took a chance and
searched "machine.inf"
on the Internet. I found this site:
http://tinyurl.com/bdbn4
Clicking on this link will download the file machine.inf. I cut my
machine.inf file
from the windows\inf folder, renamed it, and put it on my desktop just
in case.
I then replaced it with the file I downloaded.
Next time I booted up it found new hardware logical disk manager, but
this time I
was able to select search for a driver. I put my original XP cd in and
had it look
there. I received a message that the driver was already updated. I may
have done
this twice, I don't remember. All my boots after this have worked fine
without finding
new hardware. In retrospect, I probably could have searched the I386
folder on my
original XP cd and replaced the file. In fact, I have since replaced
the file I
downloaded with the one from the cd, and they both worked fine for me.
Good luck.
