Hi,

i have just purchased a new external hard drive as my old one was too
small. i want to know if i can use it as the main drive. is this at all
possible, the PC i currently have is a HP Pavilion t620a. Can i use the
external one just like an internal hard drive???

Externals are basicly intended as just storage drives; however, some
programs are now configured to operate from them . I don't know anyone who
claims to be able to operate any Windows version from them. One are more
Linux operating systems claim to be able to operate from any USB connected
external drive. If you have an open drive bay, you probably could remove the
hard drive from the external case and connect it as an internal hard drive.

So if i use it as just a storage device, and use the standard drive for
windows files i.e files that make the computer run it will be fine. for
example, if i use a filesharing program i can direct the downloaded
files to the external drive? Should i keep all of the windows files on
the main drive or transfer them over?

Windows should stay on the main drive.
