- USB Device Not recognised.

Hi all got problems with a USB powered hub. Previously I had an ALi PCI USB
card and couldnt get any USB device to work with it so I have now swapped the
PCI card for a VIA based Qtec card. All devices work fine when plugged
directly into the USB 2.0 PCI card or my onboard VIA 1.1 ports.
But when I try to connect my Trust 4 port self powered hub to the PCI USB 2
card the hub is identified as Generic Hub but any device attached to the hub
is "Unknown device" and a pop up box advises me "The device could not be
recognised" and then the device is installed as an Unknown device and "ready
to use".
I have taken the Hub back to the shop and they tested it and it worked fine,
also if I plug the hub into my USB 1.1 port the devices can be detected and
installed that are attched to the hub. I have tried deleting all devices in
safe mode using hidden options but this hasn't solved the problem.
I have a feeling this MS KB article is the solution

run out of support tickets.

Thanx will try the USB troubleshooting page see if that helps although
looking through setupapi.log the USB device is allocated as "bad device".

I've just tried the USB troubleshooting and none of those suggestions helped.
Could it be because I'm plugging USB 1.1 devices into a USB 2 hub ?

Tim, did you get this issues resolved. I have the same problem and also think
that the Hotfix is needed, but MS are being really slow to get back to me.
