Why can't I get native XP CD burning?
Posted by Mac on October 12th, 2005

Have an external Freecom Classic DVD rewriter hooked up via USB 2.0.

I can burn CD's via bundled Roxio Easy Creator - but it crashes after each
burn and I need to reboot, and I can't get access to native XP CD burning
with this hardware.

Not 100% sure if the USB cable is the one supplied - could it be the
problem?

If Roxio is installed, it could be interferring with XP's native burning.

Have you tried to update the Roxio software? Eventhough its is a bundled
version, you should still be able to update it (within the same level of
software.)

I would check with the drive's maker and see if there is:

1) Updated drivers

2) An info/FAQs about your question.

If you still have not found any solution, try www.rpc1.org. This web forum
deals mainly with burners and especially DVD drives.
