- Windows XP boot Disk doesnt see SATA Drives
- Posted by Dan on November 29th, 2005
I am trying to run fixmbr from the Windows XP CD but when the cd finishes
loading the files it says that it doesnt see any drives. I have 4 SATA drive
installed on the computer. I can boot from a win98 cd boot disk and run
ntfsdos and it sees the drives. How can i repair the MBR from a dos prompt?
Or what do i need to do to make the windows xp cd see the drives?

If your Win98 boot disk can see the drives then you can
run the following command to fix the MBR. It will work
for WinXP.
fdisk /mbr

You ;have to hit F6 and load the driver for the SATA interface on the
motherboard.
