- add/remove programs - programs not listed, no option to remove
- Posted by Chris on December 1st, 2007
In control panel->add/remove programs, only a handful of programs are listed
where there should be dozens. Also, the few that are listed no longer have
the option to either change or remove them. It just shows the size and when
they were last used.
I don't understand... just a few days ago it was fine. All programs were
represented and had the option to remove.
Note: this is not a problem of white space between programs; those listed
are from A to Z and there is no scroll bar.
I also cannot change the information for each program in regedit under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\<Program
Name>
because only 1 program is listed there. None of the dozens missing from the
add/remove window are listed in this folder.
I also have updated virus and spyware protection.
Please help. I have hit dead ends on this problem for days.

How do I reinstall System Restore?
Warning: This will delete ALL existing restore points.
Go to Start - Run and type %Windir%\INF then press
enter.
In Windows Explorer go to Tools - Folder Options - View
Tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
Find the sr.inf file, right click on it and select
Install.
Or simply type or paste the following command into the
Start - Run box and press enter.
rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf
If the Files Needed dialog box appears, click Browse
and point to the i386 folder on the Windows XP CD OR
to the i386 folder on the hard drive, if it exists, of
for systems updated with the Service Pack 2 CD or
Download from Microsoft, browse to the
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder.
