Administrator/User Logon
Posted by Horace on May 24th, 2008

How do I tell if I'm logged on as a "User" or the "Administrator" ?
I use "Autologon" through TweakUI.
Also, if I'm just a "User", how would I log on as "Administrator" or create
an "Administrator" account ??

Open tweak ui. Look at the login page. What does it say? User or
Administrator? Then that is who its logging in as.

Change that entry to 'administrator' if you want to log in as administrator.
You can also go into control panel -> user accounts and change your user
account to have admin rights, or you may already be an administrator as
'user'.

You can also turn off the autologin in tweak UI and then you will get
the login screen and can pick the user you want to be.

Your question lacks a bit of reason why you want to do this, hope this
all helps.

A quick, simple way would be to simply Right-click on the Start Button.
The resulting Context menus are very different between limited and
administrative users. For instance, limited users see no option to
"Explore All Users."

Another simple method would be to click Start > Control Panel > Users,
and then examine the properties of the account you're using.

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and use Start > Run > "control userpasswords2" to
modify the desired account(s). Or, once logged in, you could also
right-click My Computer, Select "Manage," and then select "Local Users
and Groups."

Unless you set the built-in Administrator's password via the
Management Console (_not_ the Control Panel), it's probably still blank.
WinXP Pro asks the user to set the Administrator's password during
installation, but WinXP Home doesn't.

By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of
WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing
CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login
dialog box.

checked. Somehow I'm being automatically logged on as "administrator"
according to your "Start" button check which shows both "Open All Users: AND
"Explore All Users".
