Hi I want to find out if it is possible to backup office 2000 applications
and other application programs before reformatting my hard drive (hit by
virus)?

NO! You could only backup the documents and your "custom" templates and
dictionary. Office install does not only place the programs/files into one
folder. It places the files all over the C:\Windows folders and it writes
to the Registry.

No. You can backup any data files, but you'll have to reinstall any
and all applications from the original media.
