Can only connect to https not http? Help.
Posted by Ollie T on October 30th, 2005

Hello. I figure some of you more PC literate members could possbily help me.
I have a laptop that has stopped connecting. I can only access https sites
with it, everything else it will not connect to.

This just suddenly started happening. I believe it was trying to update MSN
messenger just before this problem started.

The network is connected fine, I am using ZoneAlarm on it. I have tried to
disable the firewall and the same problem is still there. What can I try? I
have run a spyware and virus scan. I did a system restore from a couple days
ago and nothing.

I am usually pretty good at fixing PCs but have never come across this one.
Any ideas on why https sites work and nothing else?

I was convinced the laptop had a virus. I reformatted it and had the same
problem when everything was reinstalled.

Decided to try my PSP web browser and discovered it had the same problem.
So then I realized it was the damn wireless router causing the trouble. I
have no idea why it just decided to quit working right in the middle of the
day.

Anyways, a quick reboot and setup of the router and everything back to 100%.
