Can't make new folders, or right click on desktop
Posted by emily on October 8th, 2005

Whenever I right click on the desktop, instead of the normal menu that pops
up, all icons are wiped off the desktop momentarily and then restored. Any
windows that were open are closed, and the menu never pops up.

While trying to create a new folder in My Documents, I right clicked in the
my doc window and the window just closed. I tried to go to the file menu,
but clicking on the file menu also closes the window. I can click on other
menus, but not the file menu.

I have also lost the ability to change the control panel to the normal WinXP
view.

Any ideas????

Hi,

Sounds like a problem with a context menu entry, and it's causing the
explorer shell to restart. See this:
