My machine has 2 eide 80 gb hard drives C and D running XP sp2. I use the D
drive for storage and some backup. When I turned the machine on thia AM,
chkdsk ran, I left the machine to do its thing and when I returned it was
ready to go.
Then I tried to access some info from the D drive only to get...."D:\ is
not accessible. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert (Volume Serial
Number: ) into drive D:\." Checked Device Manager and it indicated Status as
Healthy (active) but for File System column none is shown...no NTFS no FAT.
Checking properties for D it shows as full. Then I checked the Events logs
for systems and found "error, 1/27/2006, 8:13:33, ntfs, disk, 55". Sent it
to MS but no help.
How do I get the NTSF file info back on the drive without reformatting and
losing everything on the drive.
