Clearing Add-ons that have been used by IE
Posted by Fierce1 on October 14th, 2005

I have WinXPHome SP2 and Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2
When I open up IE's Add-on Manager their are basically two categories:
-Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
-Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer

My question is, if I no longer have certain files like BHO's or Active -X
components, etc, by removing a Program or App or Deleting them from my
machine, how do I clear or re-set the ( -Add-ons that have been used by IE)
window or remove these orphaned file names from the Managed Add-on's List ?

I basically want a clean slate and no longer want to see Items on this list
I no longer have or utilize ... Thank you for any assistance in advance ... F1

you know that button in IE you push to clear the temp internet files/cache ?
Right next to the clear IE cache button is a button named 'Settings' maybe
push it then press View Objects. Might right click the objects to be
certain you want to delete them,,, most are self explanatory.

Thanks for the try bumtracks, but you missed the whole point of my post ...
I know how to delete files and objects from the 'Downloaded Programs Files'
Folder, like active-X files, BHO's, etc ... the point I was trying to get
across, is that even after these files are removed or deleted from my
machine, their entry names are still displayed in the window or Panel
labeled, 'Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer' ... I want to
clear these entries from still being displayed in that window or panel ...
