Disappearing Icons
Posted by Dennis on October 11th, 2005

A thousand pardons if this has been asked/answered before (I'm certain I'm
not the only one) but here's my problem.

Some of my icon do not appear on the taskbar (that's the icons on the right
side, next to the clock.)
One example is the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.

The method I'm using to get them back is to kill explorer and restart it as
process, then all of the icons show up.

Anyone have any ideas as to why all of the icons don't show when Windows XP
Pro is started and need to have explorer restarted to show them all?

Sorry, forgot to mention that I DO NOT have "Hide Inactive Icons" selected.

David, I tried this and the fix worked for me as well.
Last several days I get the proper icons on the tray.

Thanks for posting it.
