- Displaying correct Icons
- Posted by Jason on October 4th, 2005
I use Microstation CAD and Jpeg images etc. but when using windows explorer
to find files i notice windows confuses the icons and file types to both the
same and when i change one to the correct icon and program to open it up, it
keeps changing the other program files to that Icon. Microstation uses file
extension .dgn.
Any help as to what is wrong?

In Windows XP default *.jpg file association is with Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer.
Do you open *.jpg with MicroStation also?
File Extension Details for .DGN
http://www.filext.com/detaillist.php...&Submit3=Go%21
lists this for...
MicroStation DGN File EXEFile:
%ProgramFiles%\Bentley\Program\MicroStation\ustati on.exe -wcs:\microstation\
program\custom\mslocal.cfg -wustandard %1

Sorry Wesley but that did not help. I don't open *.jpg in microstation but
you can import them as Raster Images into the workspace and it is not just
jpg but all other types of graphic file icons that seem screwed up such as
*.tif, *.bmp.
I think i might reinstall Microstation and Paint Shop Pro9 to see if that
solves it.

Hi Wesley
It worked and i think the problem was a file association in Paint shop Pro,
i had checked all the files in a long list to be associated with PSP and in
that list of what appeared to be all graphic files was *.dgn. Now that it is
unchecked i am no longer having the icon problems.
Many thanks for the time you took to help me.
