distorted sound

Im having trouble with sound on my laptop,ive updated drivers,but the sound
is quite distorted and 'flary'.Im fairly sure that ive burst my speakers,any
advice on verifying this?

Try different speakers.

Can you use external speakers with the laptop..?
Are your audio codecs up to date, missing or corrupted..?

Yes, by all means try another set o'speakers.. Also, you might go to the OEM
site for the laptop and see if there are any driver updates for the onboard
sound card..

The tool works for audio & video codecs, may come in handy down the road..
It's a nice tool to have it in your (tool box) arsenal..
