Dont want Windows to promt me to put in password each time it star
Posted by Ben1982law on March 12th, 2006

The password prompt began coming up on its own. There is no pw set and all I
have to do to get it to go away is click ok and I can log into Windows xp. I
want to not have to click this. I want to not be prompted to put in a
password anymore. Can anyone help me to get this off of my vomp when I start
up xp?

Thanks,

Ben

Search using Google!
http://www.google.com/
( How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

To enable automatic logon XP HE and XP Pro (not joined to
a domain):

1. [Start] | Run | "control userpasswords2" [OK]
2. /Users\
[ ] "Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This
Computer"
[OK]
3. In the "Automatically Log On" dialog box that appears,
type the user name and password for the account you want
to be logged on each time you start the computer.

Or..

Open Control Panel -> User Accounts -> click "Change the way users log on
or off," place a check next to use the Welcome screen and click apply
options.

Click back, click your user account, make sure it is not password protected.
