I am a high school teacher with a room full of pcs and with admin priveleges.

The students are downloading either .zip or .exe games. They do not have
permission to install, but are saving the .exe file in a folder and then
playing the games...as you would figure, at the wrong times.

I looked at the threads here but am unable to find that one that will help
me resolve the issue of blocking downloads of of those type files.... I do
need for them to bring stuff in from the net but just want to block .zip and
..exe.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Periodically check, clean up and cauterize the C: drive

I do the periodic checks and clean ups...have to admit, cauterize is a new
tem to me...what's that mean? By the way, I can clean them today and by
tomorrow the problem has already returned....

I still think the fix is oriented towards blocking those types of files from
being downloaded without some sort of permission.

I don't know of anyway of restricting downloads by file extension.

But you can use www.autoit3.com to create an executable file
that runs quietly (no taskbar or tray icon) that idles until it finds a file
download
dialog and checks the download's name, and then cancels the download and
pops up
a warning tell the student to cease and desist, if it contains "exe" or
"zip".
