I want to set up a dual boot. I have Xp pro on my computer right now, and
want to dual boot with Xp media center edition. Can i put both on the same
partition? Or how do i make a new partition without messing up the one i have
set up right now?

You can never operate two systems on one partition. You need a partitioning
software such as Norton Partition Magic to make a seperate partition for
Media Center Ed.

The installation routine will allow you put more than one OS
in the same partition if you explicitly tell it the name of the
folder to create to contain it. But... there *may* be problems
with installing the same apps on the multiple OSes. It's
better and safer to install them in separate partitions. You
can make added partitions with Win XP's Disk Management
utility, and I think (but I'm not sure) that the installation routine
can be told to make a partition from unallocated disk space.
Since the 2 OSes will be put on the same HD, the 2nd one
installed will "see" the first partition, so the 2 OSes will call
the 2nd partition "D:". If that's not a problem, you're home free.
If you want the 2nd OS to call its own partition "C:" when it's
running, you'll have to hide the first partition while doing the
installation of the 2nd partition. Partition Magic is one of
several 3rd party utilities that can do that.
