I would like some information regarding burning dvd's. I only have a CD rom
in my laptop. Can i just buy an external dual layer dvd burner in order to
record dvd's? Am confused!!!

Absolutely, an external Firewire/USB2 DVD recorder would do the job.

What laptop make/model do you have and would want the recorder to be
cheap and bulky (for at home) or compact and pricey (to use while out
and about)?

Kind Regards

Do you have any brands that you could recommend?

I believe Iomega/Lite-on drives can be quite well priced.

One drive I quite like is the "LG GSA 2166D" recorder. This version is
USB2 only. It supports Lightscribe, which I would love have.

Komplett is selling the unit for £71.00 inc p&p.

I've had very good results with Plextor brand equipment.
