I apologize for posting this thread again, but I can't seem to find my
original post in the Newsgroup. I posted that my DVD-RW reads and writes
DVD's but doesn't recognize any cd's, Autoplay doesn't even pop-up when I
insert a CD but works perfectly with DVD's. I got a reply that it was a
hardware problem and another one that told me that I needed to clean the lens
with a cleaning disk.
I tried that and nothing happened...in fact the computer didn't recognize
the cleaning disk. I'm running out of ideas...could it be some file missing
or some registry...I'm really lost here and the only solution shouldn't be to
replace the drive. I hope that you can help me and I thank for the previous
replies.

What burning software are you using? Have you updated it lately? Have you
disabled the inbuilt CD Wiz, via the recording tab?
Look in your services and see the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service it defaults
to manual, try setting to automatic and restart the computer, any change?
