- Email notification at log on
- Posted by Mal O. on April 28th, 2006
My user log on shows the notification that there are 4 unread emails, and I
have been unable to get this to go away even after checking both Outlook
express and Outlook 2003 which was installed as part of an Academic version
of Office. I have read and/or deleted all emails and this message remains
even after reboots of the machine. How do I get rid of it?

Hi
Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.
Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic*rosoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\*UnreadMail\[Y*ouremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).

Thanks for the info.
Of course this morning when firing up the computer the message has eventually
disappeared.
Obviously it just wanted to piss me off!!!
