- Enabling sharing folders only after entering remote login name+password?
- Posted by Peter Hanke on April 22nd, 2006
I enabled file/folder sharing on a WinXP Pro system for a certain folder.
When I access this local folder from another remote (LAN) computer with different
users I can access this folder without further requirements by only mapping
the folder to a new drive letter.
From other installations (e.g. with Win2000) I know that the remote user has to
enter an existing username + corresp. password of the target system to be able
to really access the shared folder. Why not here?
Do I have to switch on a special setting to force outside users to enter a local
user+password?
