I have an entire sub-folder under 'My Docs' that has somehow been
corrupted and this goes for the back up as well! All of the sudden
when I try to open any office document or PDF file I get errors. The
PDF error says the file has been corrupted and cannot open; the Office
files open, but ask for file conversion information. None of the
possibilites result in anything legible. All apps in other directories
work fine, renaming, moving, e-mailing to another system all result in
the same behavior: 3,000 pages of two or three lines to a page
gibberish.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office, I have run chkdsk /X /F from
the run line, I have run detect and repair - all to no avail. This
folder represents days oif work and as I said, the back up acts the
same way.
It just seems strange to me that this would affect an entire folder
including multiple file types, and not affect the rest of the system...
Any and all thoughts are welcome!
