I was copying some files, and my burner quit on me. I've tried to eject
the CD, but I get a notice Explorer is copying files and to close the
program or wait. Obviously I will be waiting for a long time, since it quit
working. I've tried to shut down and restart and get the same notice.

How do I stop the program from copying? I'm really clueless here.

Note: I posted this in another forum, and the response I got was to let
Windows finish. Well, Windows can't finish, because the cd burner went
south. I'm stuck in a loop.

Try these steps:

1. Press CRTL ALT DEL and click on the "Applications" tab. If you see
something that says "Copying" hit End Task.
2. If that fails, click on the "Processes" tab. Find "explorer.exe" and
right click on it. Hit End Process, and say yes to the warning. The start
bar and desktop should go away. The CD Copy window should die too.
3. If the CD copy Window does not die, find "imapi.exe" and repeat the same
procedure as step 2. It should be dead by now.

If steps 1-3 worked, and you are without a start bar, go to the
"Applications" tab again, and click on "New Task". Type in "explorer.exe"
w/o the quotes.

If steps 1-3 failed, you will need to hard reset the PC. Basically cut the
power to the PC. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. If it does
not turn off, unplug from the wall. Not the best option, but may be the only
option at this point.

Thanks! Whew, that was scary being stuck in a loop. I ended up having to
turn off the PC at the surge protector. The tray opened up so I could get
the CD out. Now, I just have to get a new burner.
