I was trying to export something into a previous excel document and it seems
to have erased what I already had. I did NOT save it but when I exited out
and tried to come back into it, the new stuff was there and not the old. Is
there a way to recapture what was there previously? Again I didn't save when
I exited.

If you did *NOT* save it - but your changes are there - then you saved it.
heh
The only way to recapture what you had is to go to your backups and retrieve
the old file.

Also - for the future - you may want to look into something like this
product:

Undelete

Great product.
