Explorer folder list constantly updating when browsing mapped drive
Posted by Andrew on May 10th, 2006

Hi there,

I've noticed when viewing a map drive via wnidows explorer, that the
folder list flickers very often. Sometimes every second, sometimes a
bit longer (3 - 10 seconds).

This occurs from XP clients and 2003 servers, but never from 2000
clients or servers.

Is anyone aware of what might be causing this?

The mapped drive is hosted on a Windows 2003 server.

It's like the server is constantly sending smb updates with the folder
listing.

Regards,

Andrew
