- Explorer looses folder pane & switches to full screen when folder

How do I keep my settings when I select a folder in the folder pane of
Windows Explorer. Everytime I click on a folder it switches to full screen
and removes the folders pane. This is new as of today. Never did this
before. I have XP Professional and am Service Pack 2 and have installed all
critical updates.
