External Harddrive

I ordered an internal harddrive and an enclousure and I was wondering if I
have to format it, I do not want to form,at it because I work between a mac
and pc and would like to be able to exchange files between the two.

If you don't format it you won't be able to use it with either.

Hello,

Yes you do need to format it, and partition it (partitioning it is an
important step by the way) before you can use it with anything.
