- Failure to boot and unable to get to recovery console.
- Posted by Ron on February 19th, 2006
XP-SP2 Windows-Based Laptop computer will not boot into Windows XP and
invoking Safe Mode or all additional options goes back to re-boot.
Stop: 0X000000ED (0X84587D8), 0XC000009C, 0X00000000, 0X00000000.
On F8 interrogation reveals "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"
BIOS recognizes the Hard drive
This laptop only has RE-write able CD (NO FLOPPY DRIVE)
Manufacturer did not provide the XP installation CD and I do not have a
Bootable start-up disc on CD.
I could probably re-format HDD from recovery CD's I created, but that option
will erase all data on HDD.
My main objective is to recover the data from HDD.
Any advise on how to go from here will be greatly appreciated
