- file bigger then 2GB
- Posted by Bartek on November 24th, 2005
Hi,
how can I copy a file, bigger then 2 GB on my hdd. The filesystem is
NTFS, and there should be no constraints for filesize. But i get the
error, "maximum filesize reached" at exactly 2 GB.

Yeh, but zip does not help for bigger files.

You can specify your preferences to your preferred Zip contraption how the
file/s should be handled, namely breaking up the file up into n sized
pieces.

The amount of RAM the machine has is likely the factor inhibiting total
completion of large file transfer.

Are you transferring to another drive, or another partition on one
drive? It sounds like something is formatted FAT32. I'd double check
the file types. I just copied an 8.9gb file from one physical hard
drive to another physical hard drive as a test. It went fine.
