- file too large, not enough disk space to copy
- Posted by cfb3 on February 3rd, 2006
I was trying to copy a folder from my main hard drive to an external hard
drive. I have 512M memory and over 100 gig free space on both drives. I had a
10 gig media file in the folder. I received a popup that said it could not
complete the copy because there was insufficient disk space. What happen?

Patti,
that is it, been using NTFS for so long did not think that the external
drive would be formatted differently. Thanks for help.

Hi cfb3,
Is the external hard drive formatted for FAT32 file system? If so, then that
might be the problem, as FAT32 has a file size limit of a little less than
4GB.
