- files not found for windows update
- Posted by johnef on December 20th, 2005
i went to microsoft update the other day because i noticed i had not
been getting updates lately. when microsoft searched for updates i
needed, it told me "Files required to use Microsoft Update are no
longer registered or installed on your computer" it gave me the option
to install and register them, so i did, but to no avail, it comes back
to the "files required" screen. how am i to know which files are
missing? is there a registry entry?
can i put in my recovery cd to install the missing files?
i am running xp home sp2
thanks for any help.
