- Flash Drive Write Protect Problem
- Posted by John the WebTV Man on November 21st, 2007
Due to "unsafe" removal from an XP computer, I now have a corrupted 1Gb
Flash Drive that cannot be Erased, Formatted or Changed as any action
results in a "Write Protected" message. There is NO access to any Write
Protect switch on/inside the device. Can anything be done to restore
proper opertion?? I have tested the drive in Vista, XP, Win2K and Mac
computers for Format/Erase with same Write Protect error.

Hi,
You can try the manufactures website support page and see if they have a
utility to do a low level format. This should fix the drive and you can then
format the drive in windows. BE AWARE that doing this you will loose
anything that's on that drive, however it's probably gone anyway.
All the best,
SG
