- Frozen disk defragmentation, and "stop" defragmentation button
- Posted by amk on November 6th, 2005
I have Windows Professional XP. I just ran disk defragmentation for the
first time. The disk defragmentation stopped at about 36% of the way. (Yes, I
first checked for viruses, damaged files, and analyzed the disk.) Also, what
happens when I press the "stop" button available in disk defragmentation? I
finally did after several hours of disk defragmentation being frozen. Because
of either the defragmentation process stopping itself or me stopping it after
it froze up -- it never gave me any kind of error message -- is it possible
that I now have some files messed up? What other problems might
defragmenatation stopping cause me? Thanks for your help.
