- Getting hyperthreading to work in XP Pro SP2
- Posted by bmwmay@gmail.com on November 18th, 2005
I've got an IBM ThinkCentre with a P4 3 Ghz and Intel 915 express
chipset. Device manager shows 2 CPU's under Processors and under
Computer it shows Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).
The BIOS is the latest available (11/2/05) and the Use Hyperthreading
option is set to Enabled.
When I view task manager, I expect to see two windows for each logical
processor on CPU Usage History but I don't. This tells me
hyperthreading is not being used and I don't know what to try next.
This PC was built from an image that may have been created on a
non-hyperthreaded PC, could that have anything to do with the problem
and how can I fix it short of re-installing the OS (could I try a
repair?)
Thanks,
Mike

Open Task Manager and from the Toolbar select:
View > CPU History > One Graph per CPU

That option is already selected but still only one CPU window appears.
