- help! display properties won't open!
- Posted by Bobby on April 23rd, 2006
For some strange reason, whenever I try to open up my Display Properties
(both by right clicking on my desktop or going to my control panel), it shows
a timer, but after about three seconds, the timer goes away and the display
properties don't open. Can you help me with this problem?

Hi
Type the following from Start>Run
desk.cpl
Does the Display Properties window open then?

No, it doesn't. Thanks anyways. Do you happen to have any other suggestions?

Hi
Search your hard disk for the desk.cpl file. You may have a 2nd copy of it.
If so, try doubling clicking on that to see if the Display Properties opens
then.

One search result (apparently a second copy) came up but when I double
clicked on it, it did the same thing as always, the timer for a few seconds
then nothing coming up.
