- HELP! I can't get any data off of a CD-RW
- Posted by Dawn on February 10th, 2006
I have an on-going CD-RW that I've been adding a years of digital photos too
- to keep them backed up... tonight, I put the CD in to try and access the
folders and it's only showing 9 folders on the CD instead of around 30 which
should be there and have been there up until today!! I'm panicing! The
computer seems to have a bit of a tough time reading the disk even though it
is not scratched or anything. The shiny side of the CD looks as iff the
burning has overlapped somwhere but not for a majority of the CD, just a
small part.
Is there a way to get at every last thing salvaged on this CD so I can get
it off? Is there a program that will access everything or something?
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Dawn

CD-RW are notoriously unreliable as a backup device. In the future, use
only CD-R discs; they are cheaper, and far more reliable. There are
software programs that can attempt to retrieve the "lost" data, but in most
instances they are not worth the time and effort.
