Help! Lost extra drives...

Desparately need help.

My XP Home system froze up this morning and I had to da a hard reset, and when the machine came back up, my secondary drives, E & F, weren't recognized by the system. My ZIP and JAZZ drives are recognized just fine. The JAZZ I understand 'cause it's on a SCSI bus, but the ZIP is internal and on the IDE bus, same as the E & F drives.

Any help would be appreciated...

Need more information to make a true diagnostic of the situation. I've
most often seen this type of problem when there is a conflict with
several local drives and network drive mappings starting with early
drive mappings.

You may want to check your drive mappings. Also, a quick fix might be
ti manuall assign the drive letters to your local drives. This can be
done through the management console.

Right click on "My Computer"
select "manage"
select "Disk Management" in the left window pane
by right clicking on the drives in the right window pane, you can assign
drive letters.

Good luck.

Thanks, Dave, for the information. Unfortunately the drives don't even show
up in the Device Manager. I've had these 2 disks online for over 3 years
and today they just disappeared after the system froze.

A second look at my computer internals shows that the drives are on a
different bus - their own card. Perhaps my card died.
