- how to avoid rebooting the machine to USB drive work properly
- Posted by Chetan on April 26th, 2006
Hi All,
I have a small problem with my iPod detection.
After connecting my iPod to machine my windows XP-SP2 is asking for
reboot to installed device work properly. The exact message i am
getting is
<<>>
" Windows has finished installing new devices. The software that
supports your device requires that you restart your computer. You must
restart your computer before the new settings will take effect.
Do you want to restart your computer now? "
<<>>
And one more thing is , even if i select 'NO' my iPod is working
normally.
Can some one please help me on this.
I thought this issue might be with 'services' or
'HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\' registry keys.
Thanks,
Chetan.

Hi there Chetan,
Did any software come with the iPod for installation? It most likely
included a driver for Windows to install. If not, you may want to go to
http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ and install the software that is
applicable to the model of iPod that you have.
By the way, if you ever get tired of your iPod and the proprietary music
format, there are a number of Windows based mp3 players that are very cool
and wonderful to use with Windows Media Player 10, I enjoy using my Creative
Zen Jukebox. More info on them at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...cesupport.aspx
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
~Will
