No, they can not be saved.
A Repair Installation will remove the updates and Service Pack.
Part of the reason to perform a Repair Installation is to repair corrupted
data.
If the corruption is in an update or Service Pack, the corruption would be
restored and you would be back where you started.
The possibility of problems with SP-2 or SP-2 is probably the same.
But most problems installing either can be prevented:
