How to disable permanently Windows Security Center?
Posted by Tim Tuples on October 8th, 2005

In Windows XP (SP2) the Windows Security Center is included.
I want to
a) disable all parts (Firewall,AutomaticUpdate,Virusprotection) and
b) remove it from Systray

How do I do this?

Is there a tool which helps me to remove the registry entires(deactivate the services/diable autostart entries?

Is it possible not only to deactivate it but to deinstall it completely from WInXP?

You can disable the Windows Security Center service using the services.msc
snap-in. I've been doing this for several months with no problems.

Go to Start...Run...and type in SERVICES.MSC and press enter.
Scroll down the list until you find SECURITY CENTER
Right click on the service and select STOP
Then right click on it again and select PROPERTIES
In the Properties dialog will be a box that's labeled STARTUP TYPE - set
this to DISABLED and click OK to exit the dialog.
Reboot the system for changes to take effect
