How do I get rid of this?
Posted by Phobia on December 22nd, 2005

I just tried to install Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7.5 on my 2001
dell pc with windows xp. The installation messed up halfway through and I
had to reboot. Now there are some problems. 1) When I try to reinstall it
says ithe reinstallation was successful, but nothing was actually
reinstalled, 2)when I try to uninstall it, it won't let me,(I click the
remove button but nothing happens) 3)"add/remove programs" doesn't work on
that program,(even in Safe mode).
I downloaded a free 30-day trial of Mcafee virus protection, but it won't
let me fully install until I have uninstalled Norton... which doesn't even
work.
What should I do?
Please help.
I am so frustrated.
Thank you!

You should be checking at Symantec's web site:

Yeh - I agree with Tom's post.

While there is a great deal of wisdom and experience within this NG do
we really want Windows (a proprietary product) experts to advise in
Symantec (another propriatary product) brended stuff?

Isn;t there a reasoned cause to consult with the brandholder first and
foremost? After all, it probably counts as part of the brand holders
responsibility to their own customers?

Use the RNAV utility from Symantec to remove the remnant portions of NAV
that are installed.
