How do I stop ALL updates and other traffic?
Posted by OM on September 28th, 2005

I want to be on the net with my mobile phone connecting my laptop.

BUT... what I don't want is the laptop trying to download the latest
update because downloads of that size will cost me £1 million.

All I want to do is JUST use MSN and Yahoo messengers

How can I turn EVERYTHING off?

Thanks.

Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down to Automatic Updates, highlight it and disable it.

Bytes told you how to turm off XP atomatic updates....but you might also
need to turn off atomatic updates in
your anti virus program/anti spyware/etc.
these settings should be available in the program itself
