How do I tell if a profile is corrupt?
Posted by Ben on September 28th, 2005

I have a little problem right now. Whenever I try to use the open
command in programs like Windows Media Player or iTunes my program
freezes up (I can ctrl+alt+delete it force shut but that is the only
way). However, this problem only occurs with one account, not with any
of the others.

I asked this question to Apple and they say it is because of a driver
from my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card (tbcwdm.sys), but that
doesn't explain why it works in the other 3 profiles, but not the one I
use. Then what makes me believe this less is that I tried using the
sound built into my Abit NF7-S version 2 motherboard and even with the
driver off of the computer the same problem arises.

Is there a way to reset the profile to its original setting without
affecting the rest of the computer? Or if not does this sound like a
corrupted profile? And I guess my last question is if this sort of
dilemma is common on Windows XP Pro, or if this is just bad luck.
