IE desktop icon
Posted by Astros Fan on January 25th, 2006

All my desktop picture icons disappeared for some reasons. I was able to
change them back---except for the IE icon. It stays a box. Sometimes during
the day it reverts back to the "E" but I don't know the problem or how to fix
it.

To clear and reset icon cache:
Right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Advanced. Now using the item drop down
box, choose Icon. Change the pixel number by one. OK all the way out.

or download Tweak UI
Make sure you download the correct one for your system.

This did the trick. It rearranged my icons also, but I fixed that. When it
says Arrange icons by . . . what does "modified" mean? I arranged them the
way I like, and with auto arrange checked, what should be checked---name,
size or modified? Does it matter?

Modified - last changed/customized etc

Arrange them anyway you want. I don't have "auto arranged" checked.
I only have "align to grid" checked.

Whatever is your personal preference.
